Byron Center was founded in 1836 by Nathan Boynton and his brothers, William and Jeremiah, settlers from New York. The area was heavily wooded and once cleared, it evolved into a productive farming center featuring fruit orchards and vegetable farms.

Byron Center has gone from no roads in 1836 to being located next to two main expressways connecting Byron Center to other activities and people outside our community. Shopping has changed significantly in Byron Center too. We’ve gone from a general store to having Tanger Outlet mall in our community. In addition, the people of Byron Center appreciate the local farmers market from July through October.

About
Byron Days

When we think of Byron Center, we think of community, family, relationships, support, and love. The people that live in the Byron Center area are not just residents, rather we are a family united in belonging to a community, taking pride in our schools, and caring for others. All of which has a spiritual web that keeps us focused and united on gratitude for each other and our community.

Over the years, there have been a variety of events from ping pong tournaments to fishing competitions, from bounce houses and parades to carnival rides and SO MUCH delicious food. Even the primary location has shifted, but the heart of the festival has remained the same. Join us as we celebrate 90 years of Byron Days Festival this year!
